Profile

Resized 400px: Windmill

This owner-managed African farm is over 2000 hectares and is part of the world’s 17 “hot spots” with 3 overlapping flower zones. Conveniently situated on the longest wine route, namely Cape Route 62, De Zeekoe’s unique charm attracts guests of a different kind. People from all walks of life visit this stylish African farm in search of a unique experience.

Guests can choose between various types of accommodation, ranging from stylish suites to rustic waterfront cabins.

The idyllic setting indeed has something to offer for everyone – from the daring adventure-seekers to those who just yearn for a quite getaway.

Nestled between the majestic Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains in the heart of the Klein Karoo, this hidden gem has spectacular views with over 162 bird species and not the “big 5” but the “shy 5”.

The name De Zeekoe, is derived for the Dutch name for the farm, Zeekoegat, which literally means "hippo waterhole” over a century ago, these odd-looking, water-loving creatures used to frequent the riverbed that still runs through the farm to this very day.

Here at De Zeekoe, the silence of Africa indeed quietens one’s mind so that the slow rhythm of life in the Klein Karoo indeed becomes the song in your heart!

Birding, canoeing, fishing, stargazing in unpolluted African night skies. De Zeekoe has something for everyone, from adventure to those seeking a quiet getaway.

Treat yourself to complete relaxation in our salt water swimming pool, before sitting down to exquisite fares of seasonal, organic yield from our own gardens.

Our local wine list compliments our delicious dinners with only the finest local specialties, ostrich, venison and vegetarian dishes.
